In a silent auction you can see the other persons bids, they are written in plain sight, and you look at the last one and see if you want to bid over it. Closed bid the bids are in an envelope and the highest number written down wins, you can’t see what others have bid.

A silent auction is usually something that’s done for charity… you put your bid in and then the highest bid wins… Closed bid auction is done mostly by contractors bidding for jobs. They send in their seals bids for review. Then the company can choose based on the price/service.. whatever.
